I found your website very interesting and helpful. I am researching my family history and have a line of 'Curry' originally from this area. At one time, (1901) my great grandfather George Curry farmed land at Rowberrow. His son was Albert, (Jack) Curry. My father was Ken Curry and when I was a child we lived in West Street, Axbridge. Any contacts that may help me find out more about my family history will be very welcome. Thanks, Chris.

I have recently moved to Rackley Lane Compton Bishop and was pleased to stumble on this excellent site while browsing for local history and information. Keep up the good work.

I am descendant from Lucinda Jane Forster of Bamborough Castle, and Thomas Loxton (both born UK) who met and married in AUstralia in 1840's. Thomas's mother and brothers (father dead) left England for South Africa. AFter a few years Thomas left for AUstralia. There is a town of Loxton in South AUstralia here. Also they sell a nice wine there labelled 'Loxton Winery'. Thomas settled in NSW around Maitland, Musselbrook, and Sydney. He was a surveyor. My grandfather, Frederick Ewen, was born in Sydney and lived his adult life in Brisbane. My father, his son, being the only living son to have issue. My father, Colin Cameron Loxton, visited, to record and verify his ancestry, in England, Sth Africa and Canada. He left papers outlining his findings but was unable to fullfil his desire to 'book' his family history. Hopefully I can. The internet today makes access to birth, death, marriage, verification from ones own home seem as a miracle. Dad did verify events from English Church records and headstones - if only there were digital cameras then! He could have clicked away to his heart's content. (He took no photos) As I delve through his papers and get a grasp upon this ancestral history I will return to your site. I thank you all in your efforts to record your area which enables me to research my roots. Cheers, Jo.
