.....The largest flowering species of our wild roses has particularly fragrant flowers in May to July, which vary in colour from rosy pink, through pale pink to white with numerous yellow stamens. The fruits, that is the hips are bright red, egg-shaped and generally hairless, often collected during August to November for making into jelly or syrup to provide a valuable source of Vitamin C.
