Site Profile
Objectives
The site has a strong emphasis towards photography to illustrate the regions many facets, namely its places of interest, outdoor pursuits, scenery and natural history. It was suggested and considered worthwhile to add facilities for continually developing a free resource for the communities in the many small villages and hamlets contained in the region.
Why West Mendip ?
West Mendip is the name chosen to represent an arbitrary region of some 5 miles radius around the tiny hamlet of Compton Bishop. This splendid rural area was selected to encompass many of the places, features and landscapes of interest to visitors coming to this beautiful part of the West Country in the South West of England.
What Is West Mendip OnLine ?
West Mendip OnLine is a regional site created for the potential benefit of visitors, local people, businesses and organisations in and around the West Mendip area. The site has the potential and capacity to develop and grow in any direction chosen by its participants, whether for the promotion of businesses by advertising goods and services, incorporating news items, the publicity of events and occasions by local groups, charities and clubs, or just individuals wishing to announce their forthcoming weddings, retirement, 40th birthday and what have you !!! Whilst the area chosen overlaps a few larger communities, many of which will doubtless create their own village sites; they are invited and more than welcome to participate in this site. It is hoped, that eventually other village sites in and around the region will exchange links for the mutual benefit of all our communities.
The site is designed and maintained by SiteDesign43; hosted by Freeola and funded by OnLine43.net, a non-profit making voluntary organisation which assists local people with computer and internet problems. Financial support from any individual or organisation is neither provided nor sought.
